Prevalent Means of Transportation:
Since the beginning of the 21st Century, there has been different modes of transportation available around the world that can travel either through air, water, land or underground.
The fastest transportation medium being air travel where the travel speed exists between 850 kmph (528 mph) to 930 kmph (578 mph). However, faster speed were tried before which did not went well due to sonic boom experienced by passengers aboard and thus such flights were cancelled.
Emergence of Hyperloop:
In year 2012, a design was proposed to develop a new means of transportation that could help in reducing the time required to travel long distance by people. This design was proposed by the organisations that are currently controlled by Elon Musk, an visionary entrepreneur and engineer who has organisations such as SpaceX, Tesla, The Boring Company and many others.
The design was to develop a network of underground tunnels that can be laid between cities to allow faster travel for passengers as well as cargo. It was expected to travel at a speed of 1200 kmph. Thus providing faster connectivity between cities than air travel. Currently, Hyperloop is considered as the fastest means of transportation existing in the world.
In this kind of transportation, the passengers are moved using pods or capsules that are traveling through a long tunnel which is laid underground. This underground tunnel is vacuumed to allow faster travel as well as too reduce any air drag that can be faced by the moving capsule. The design has similarity with the Maglev trains that travel upon levitation due to magnetic forces and can travel at speed of nearly 600 kmph.

Current Situation of Hyperloop:
In 2018, the Hyperloop project has successfully displayed its ability to travel at a speed of 1200 kmph. Moreover, many countries outside the US have displayed their eagerness to receive Hyperloop for transportation facilities.
Currently, there are more than six companies that are engage in building Hyperloop portals around the world.
Key Players in Hyperloop Market:
Hyperloop Transportation Technologies:

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies was founded in the year 2013 by Elon Musk. It planned to build the first Hyperloop around the cities of Los Angeles and San Fransisco. However, no construction of project that are obtained by the company are ongoing resulting in curiosity about the viability of the projects.
Moreover, it has also made an agreement with the government of Andhra Pradesh (India) to develop a route between Amaravathi and Vijayawada cities of Andhra Pradesh.
Virgin Hyperloop One:

The organization was initially known as Hyperloop Technologies which was renamed as Hyperloop One. However, with the investment made by Virgin Group, it was renamed as Virgin Hyperloop One. The organization displayed its speed trials of its capsules at its training fields in 2017. Currently it has project to build up Hyperloop facility at Abu Dhabi to transport cargos to different parts of UAE. In recent meeting by Richard Brandson (Founder of Virgin Group) with the government officials of Maharastra (India), an agreement has been reached to develop a Hyperloop terminal between Mumbai and Pune by Virgin Hyperloop One.
